Do you have anyone who can take the child for awhile and give you a break? Everyone needs a bit of alone time and if you are at your wits end you're better off distancing yourself from the situation. Don't feel bad, everyone needs a break now and then. The trick is in knowing when that time is. You may want to talk to your Dr. about how you are feeling. He/she may have better, more personal advice than someone here.

I know you won't like this..but i doubt your son is a nightmare. he is 2..full of energy..learning about himself..voicing his dislikes clearly to you..thinking the world revolves around him. And yes..that is exactly what a normal healthy 2 year old thinks and believes. I tend to think it is you that does not quite understand the development of this child and what is normal, and what the child understands. So, many people have the view that kids are little adults who know what adults know..and behave the same way. Please go to the library..check out a book on child development..the cognitive and social development of a child.d You will soon see, it was not your child that was a night mare..it was you that was going into this blinded... Now saying that, alhou your child is the most important aspect of your life..of course you need time alone. Enrol her in a lincenssed daycre where there are other 2 year olds for a couple of afternoons during the week. You might find you learn alot from that too...and enjoy some time by yourself for abit.

It doesn't sound bad at all. I think every mother has times when they need some time for themselves. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty. Being a mom is the hardest job out there and we all need a break. People don't know how good they have it until they have to hold their pee for hours and hours because the baby cries as soon as you put him/her down. Or you can't even shaves your legs because you simply don't have time. Give yourself a break and if possible leave the lil monster :) with family or hired help and go have fun, even if it;s just one evening. As long as you leave your child with someone responsible and caring, you have nothing to feel guilty about.
Oh and don't do what jonny_198 said, that's horrible and hopefully he doesn't have children. The ferber method is almost similar, but you should read up carefully before you try it. I personally don't agree with it and i've heard it's really difficult...but it works for some people. That jonny_198 guy is clearly ignorant. If you leave your child locked in a room without attention, it causes them to become insecure and basically think you don't care for them and you wont be there when they need you. If anyone reads that, please remember a child needs all the love you can give it. If you google the ferber method, you'll see that it still reinforces their security, while teaching them to fall asleep on their own. Sorry, I got a little excited. That just p****d me off!

There is a reason it's called the 'terrible twos'. Kids are just discovering that they are a person. I know that sounds weird, but they are just finding out that they are different than you, and the natural way to do that is to push boundaries. He is not trying to drive you crazy, he is trying to figure out what he can do.The word 'no' is a power word. He knows that it frustrates you, and if you give in to his tantrums, it will make him scream every time he wants something. My advice is to be firm and consistant. If you're in the grocery store and he throws a fit, don't give him what he wants just so he'll be quiet. Once he understands that he may not act this way, and he doesn't get what he wants anyway, he'll stop. And about the alone time, I will tell you what I do. When you put him to bed, forget about chores, and grab a glass of wine. Then hop into a nice hot bubblebath, or shower. If it's really bad and you want a whole day, call around to daycare providers and see if they have a day-rate. Don't feel bad about wanting alone time, it does not mean that your a bad mother. It means you're a good mom who recognizes her personal needs. If mom's happy, everyone is happy.

Do NOT ignore your child. I'm a research assistant and a psychology major at York University in Toronto and my main area of research involves attachment style. The theory that letting your baby cry because if you pick him/her up they will cry simply beacause they know you are coming is stupid. Ignoring your baby's signals will lead to an insecure attachment, which research has shown to have effects on your child's ability to get into intimate relationships as an adult, among other things.
If your husband is around, ask him to help. Maybe friends can help you out if you're uncomfortable or unable to hire a babysitter/nanny. There are also many infant groups in every major city. Do a search of where you live for infant groups that just hang out together. You'll be able to meet a lot of people there who may be able to offer advice (this may be their 2nd, 3rd, etc. child) or may be able to help you by taking turns looking after eachothers' children.

it will get easier ......... when he leaves home I'm kidding try to give yourself a break this is a really tough time the terrible twos will be over soon try some super nanny techniques and try too see if anyone will look after him even if its just for an hour so you can have a bath or whatever don't feel guilty about wanting a break.
PS have you tried putting him down for a nap so you can have a break if he's tired that could make naughtiness worse

How about hiring a mothers helper? Many of my friends work as mother helpers. While the mother is home they just play with the child or they clean up or even cook at times. Most of my friends do it for about 3 1/2 hours in the afternoon. its nice because there cheaper then a babysitter and they do more stuff

Unfortunately, they can be a nightmare at that age. But you have every right to a bit of time to yourself. It doesn't actually sound bad at all.
Does he go to nursery? He's old enough to at 2, and he'd probably love every moment. A couple of afternoons a week would probably do you both the power of good.

his behaviour is your fault ,because you allow it to happen.
the Mazatecca Indians of Ouxaca, beat their kids very lightly with a little twig .already when they are a year old ,when they cry or are a nuisance.
in the end you only have to wave the little twig and the child behaves
these people are incredible soft with their children and dont even beat their dogs .
and the kids have a lot of respect for their parents .
An extremely happy people always laughing especially when they get hurt
I saw a kid hit a goal post with blood streaming down his face laughing his head of ,because of the pain.
We can learn somthing from ancient civilizations
Dr Spock was an idiot and is responsible for generations of irresponsiblñe people because he thinks you can reason with a 2 year old person as if he was an adult
this simply is not true.
kids are built to try and blackmail or exploit their parents ,to get what they want.
and now you are suffering ,but it is your fault

Like someone already said you have to be firm with them, Take sleeping habits, i remember me and my wife sitting outside my first sons room listening to him screaming to get up (he was well and fed and clean and really tired but they like to test you!). We sat there almost crying ourselves but determined he should'nt rule us, eventually he stopped and the next time it didnt last so long. In the end he was a great sleeper and they all grew up into fine people.
That was with two of us, if your on your own it must be more difficult, but if you give in...well you see the results of that every day in supermarkets kids shouting at their mums etc.
