you know, one of those white ones that fits about a 20lb bird...we got a new one and tried it today...well, the turkey got good and done, but it never browned!..turkey was totally unappetizing looking..it looked boiled....

roasters do not brown the bird, they do keep the meat juicy though. If you wanted a browned bird you could have transfered it to a regular roaster for the last hour. You need the head circulation and the exposure to the heat elements to brown it.

We used a Nesco and set the turkey on a rack. It turned out really beautifully. We used Sandra Lee's idea of putting butter & herbs under the skin and then some butter over the top of the bird. You could always finish it off in the oven for the last 20 minutes to brown if you need to.

I cooked mine in one over night on low heat 200 degrees and it was beautiful.The breast meat was a little dry but other than that it was good.
