Is the JVC GR-D347US Video Camera offered at Walmart a good buy?

I am considering this camera as a gift for my husband, but I don't know the model very well. Is it a good deal? At only $198.74, the price seems right, but I"m unfamiliar with the MiniDV format. Will I need a special adapter to view the videos or can I load them in my computer or dvd player? Any feedback or additional info that might help me make a decision is greatly appreciated!

Probably so. There is a giant one near me, and they stock nearly everything.
