My Aunt Clara taught me how to make a grilled cheese sandwich when I was a little girl and I would be happy to pass the information on to you since I don't have a little girl to share this with ;)
Take two slices of sandwich bread, lightly butter one side of each (less calories this way and still tastes fine).
Place one slice, butter side down, on a slightly preheated skillet at medium heat.
I use Velveeta brand cheese because it melts so well...
Place cheese on the bread in the pan and place the second slice of bread on top, butter side up.
I like to use my spatula and press the top slice down a bit when the cheese begins to melt, so the top piece won't fall off when I flip it.
Keep watch and when the bottom is golden brown, flip the sandwich carefully (so the top piece won't fall off).
Some people like their sandwiches cooked to a darker color than others, but I like mine just golden brown.
Flip it over again to check...
And you are done! :D
Good luck and enjoy! ;)

Making a grilled cheese is easy! It's all about personal taste when it comes to cheese! American cheese is the common used! Butter and margarine works well although butter is mostly used!
If you spread butter on the bread first, you end up messing the bread!
The first step is to place a pan big enough to for the bread and melt some butter, or margarine in medium heat. While the butter is melting, make a regular cheese sandwich.
Once the butter is 90% melted place the sandwich on the pan to let the bread suck some of the butter in and quickly flip it to the other side so the other side sucks some of the butter as well.
Again, the amount of butter used is based on personal taste and diet needs!
Continue cooking the sandwich in the pan until you achieve a golden brown state on each side!
Do not turn up the heat or the bread will be toasted before the cheese has a chance to melt!
Hope this helps!

grilled cheese sandwiches are great. Take two slices of bread( any type) put cheese slices between slices of bread. Can use cheese spread if so desired. Get a small frying pan and heat it on low or medium. Put butter on outside of bread(both top and bottom) Place bread in heated pan. Cook about 3 minutes then lift one corner of the sandwich with a lifter or fork and check. If it has changed color and looks like toast you desire, then turn it over. If not then leave it another minute before turning. Turn and cook for 3 minutes. Again check color because second side will cook faster. Remove to a plate before cutting in half. ENJOY. You are now a cook. Congrats.

I can give you a grilled cheese sand to die for!!!
2 slices good sourdough bread, Mayo on one slice, topped with 1 slice deli ham. Next 1 or 2 slices provolone cheese, or whatever kind you like. On the other slice, spread brown mustard, a kosher dill slice. Then fry up an egg, but leave it slightly soft. Put it all together and fry in butter on both sides. If you have a panchete machine so much the better. A few strips roasted red pepper also goes great.

put butter on two slices of bread
place one slide on the skillet face down (butter side down)
place a slice of cheese down
Place the other slice of bread face up on top of the cheese slice (this time butter side up)
cook on medium heat... keep an eye on it, and cook it until its toasted (golden brown)
Be patient while it's on medium heat. If you go any higher (trying to rush it) you are sure to burn it!!
You can make a melted ham and cheese sandwich the same way, except you add a slice of ham between the two! Good luck!!

It's really easy. Two slices of white bread, 2 slices of American cheese in the middle so it covers the bread. Heat a pan over med to med-high. Spray both sides of the sandwich with garlic spray (most people use butter, but I like the garlic better). Fry in the nonstick skillet and peek under the first side until it's as brown as you want. (I like medium), then flip it over and occasionally peek until that side's done. By this time the cheese should be nice and melty.
Enjoy! I love them too!

There's not an absolute length of time, since it will differ based on oven temperature and what material pan you're using. You should cook it until each side is a golden brown color. You can lift the sandwich up a little with a spatula while it's grilling to check the color.

Here's how to make the best grilled cheese sandwich:
Butter/margarine on both sides of both slices of bread.
Put in a pan on medium high heat until toasted nicely and flip.
Put 3 slices of cheese on the bread and let it melt. Then put it together. The best cheese is real cheese (any brand-any flavor) and slice it yourself. If you slice the cheese evenly, it will melt evenly.
Eat with tater tots.
