Is it illegal for a 13 year old to go out with a 16 year old. I heard it wasn't, but then I also heard it was. It is a true relationship and is surley abstinent, and also both are very mature. I don't know who to listen to. I wouldn't even call it that type of relationship, but really close friends, that hang out with each other, but nothing like people think. Sorry if it is a stupid question but I really want to know the answer.

It depends on the laws of your state. Generally speaking, when both people are under 18 and just dating there are no laws being broken. Some states have laws regarding youth under the age of 14. But as long as the two aren't having sex, there's nothing to worry about. In some states it is illegal for two people under 18 to have sex. And of course it's not legal for anyone 18 and older to have sex with a minor.

As long as the relationship is an abstinent relationship then it is not illegal but as soon as it becomes a sexually active relationship then it will be illegal until both of them are above 16 years old. This is a federal law and for the most part i think all states don't have any laws that raise the age.

Actually, its not stupid. I wondered this also so i looked it up. As long as its abstinent, no one can stop you. And who's to tell you who to be friends with. Its absolutly fine. The only age thing that is illegal is you can't have sex with someone over 18 if you are under 18.

It would only be illegal if you had some kind of sexual contact. Until that happens, you're not breaking any laws. Stay abstinent and you'll both stay out of trouble, literally and figuratively.

The age regulation trumps the consent regulation (only for the reason it extremely is extra specific). This only skill that the guy who's sixteen has the criminal precise to have intercourse with somebody as much as the age of 18. the nineteen twelve months old is now to old, and the sixteen twelve months old now no longer has that precise.

Usually it is not since the 16 yr old is a minor also. You need to check under your state's Revised Statutes.
