Of course not.
Were slaves "thankful" for being slaves?
Were women "thankful" for being denied the right to vote?
Were blacks "thankful" that they were segregated and denied the basics of human rights?
These things are all gone now, repaired and looked back as an embarrasing period in history.
But same-sex couples are still being denied their civil right of marriage.
And it's a disgusting commentary on this modern, enlightened age.

Can't enjoy the rights that others do? What are you talking about?

Gays have the right to vote -- provided that they're old enough, of course. (The age minimums also apply to non-gays.)

Gays have the right to free speech, free association, free religion, protection from unreasonable searches ... the lot.

Yes, gays even have a right to marry. A gay man has just a right to marry a woman as a straight man does. And a lesbian woman has just as much a right to marry a man as I do.

There is not one right guaranteed in the US Constitution that gays do not enjoy.

No. I am against gay marriage but in my opinion, the best way to show opposition is not to marry someone of the same sex. We are still a free country so I don't understand what the big deal is.

Yes, they can be thankful that they are living in a time and place where they are not put to death for their sexual preferrences.

And as far as I can tell, they have the exact same rights as any other American.

Every un-married man has the right to marry any un-married woman and vice-versa.

No man may marry another man, and no woman may mary another woman.

The rules are exactly the same for everyone whether they are gay or not.

That sounds fair to me.

Yes you should be thankful. You live in the best country in the world, you are in a committed relationship, you have your health, your home a job. Why not be thankful for the things you do have? May God Bless you always

You could be thankful to be together. Most women I know who are married are not thankful for their marriage. But there's always something to be thankful about. Most people on this earth don't have safe drinking water. Just think how thankful they would be if they woke up in your situation tomorrow.
