Supposedly, according to Christian lore. Women were given pain in childbirth, and men were told they would have to toil.

Adams apple is only a metaphor; like the gras that is always greener on the other side! The apple stands for adultery, and Satan was not a snake pysically (snakes dont speak) but a man who like a snake tempted Eva into adultery.
This was standing in the bible in the book of Henoch/Enoch untill 1000 years ago. Adultery is not evil but the fruit of adultery is; or adultery is the roots of all evil.Do away with adultery (lust without love) and all else will come right!
Kain/ Adams son killed Abel/Satans son and not because of sacrifieses made to God but because they had different fathers.
Adam was the SECOND great angel send to earth after Satan (and his satanbrut) according to the book of Enoch. Enoch was the first man 'accending' to heaven with his body (second was Elijah) and he wrote a book.
In his book he predicted his own 'return' as none other then Jesus. Henoch also predicted that NOBODY will mislead more of Gods sheep (menkind) then the last 12 sheppards (apostles) and that they will not do what HE/Jesus told them to do, but their own things and they will be punished in the endtimes. Believe it or not...

We were supposedly condemned by the punishment of disobedience. Not the actual act. "Adam heard God walking in the garden and hid himself..." As the Bible teaches the nature of God to be caring and understanding then, according to scripture, had Adam admitted his wrong rather than hiding we would still be living in the Garden of Eden. Which, by the way, was a condition of life not an actual place.

Wow, interesting. What if Adam said "no." Then half of humanity would be cursed? Only the chicks? Or would god say "redo" ala "Fairly Odd Parents" and just make another, more well-behaved mate?

Biblically yes, but perhaps in a broader sense we were made to understand that every action has a reaction and there are prices to pay.

We don't have to suffer, if we know Jesus
He came to set us free from sin, sickness and the Devil.
