i want to be able to run faster is there any kind of practice/ drills i could do to help me run faster?

Run with ankle weights and try running up a hill to get faster.

Any runner will get faster if they have a good base and then start to add interval within their work outs. Interval are like sprints within the workout that will make you faster.

Here is one I liked to do about three times a week. After a good distance run of 4 - 7 miles I would jog over to the track. I would then set a goal of running a 400 under 65 seconds. I would then run one 400 under under 65 seconds and then get a 65 second rest. I would continue this until I hit 20 400's or I went over 65 for the lap.

You should start with about 10 of these and then take it up to 15 if you make it to 10 with being over 65.

Practice sprinting,
and endurance(just run more)
personally, i like running on a track the best to practice.

for me, i think the posture does matter. the second one is your running shoe.
when you are ready to run, you must really set your heart and mind right. a good start at the beginning of running always let you run faster than others.

Have a vicious dog chase you. I mean a real mean mongrel. If I knew that I would be savaged by a brutal canine I would run like the wind. I am sure you would too.

Just plain old practice...
Concentrate on stretching your legs out the furthest you can, and move quickly. As soon as one foot touches the ground, snap it back up and put the next one down.

I know, this isn't helping.

For what event? 100/200M, 400/800M etc Each event has different training methods. 10/200m you'll need strength training/sprint technique training e.g assisted and resisted speed training. Assisted training (also called overspeed training helps to improve stride frequency. Resisted speed training helps to improve speed-strength and stride length . A basic speed training program can be running uphill and downhill. Incline running helps to improve power during hip flexion and extension ( Downhill running is effective at improving co-ordination and stride frequency
Do at least 10 mins of warm up followed by some dynamic stretches. Arm Swings,Side Bends,Trunk Rotations,Full Back Stretch,Hamstring Stretch,Groin Stretch,Leg Swings

Sprinting Technique Program
These sprinting technique drills can be performed in this order or alternatively focus on just 3-4 drills. There is no need to perform multiple sets and repetitions.
Raise Knees: 10 meters - jog - 10 meters - rest
Sprint 10 meters concentrating on raising knees as higher than normal. Jog for 10 meters and then sprint for 10 meters and rest.

Fast Knee Pick Ups: 10 meters - jog - 10 meters - rest
Jogging on the spot raise your knees to waist height while emphasising arm action. Move forward 10 meters with this action concentrating on the number of ground contacts rather than how fast you cover the distance. Try to get as many ground contacts as possible.

Flicks: 10 meters - jog - 10 meters - rest
While sprinting over 10 meters concentrate on flicking your heels up to touch your butt.

Leg Speed: 60 meters
This is a normal sprint over 60 meters except all of your focus should be on your legs. make sure of the leg speed for you by taking different stride lengths to see which yields the best results.

Skipping: 40 meters

High Hops: 3 x 40 meters
Bound from one foot to the other. The action is similar to skipping except your are trying to gain as much height as possible and stay in the air for as long as possible. Remember to recover fully between attempts.

Elbow Drive: 40 meters
Sprint for 40 meters concentrating on driving your elbow in a straight line. Keep your elbows flexed at right angles while keeping your arms relaxed.

100M
Alternating Starts
a 10-20 meter/yard sprint. focus on accelerating as quickly as possible by powering away with your arms and legs.

Accelerating Sprints
mark out distance of about 100 yards/meters where you can sprint in a straight line. You also need to mark a halfway point either with some landmark or a mark on the ground. Starting at one end, gradually accelerate to reach full speed at the halfway point and continue to sprint to the end. Slow down gradually to a jog, turn and walk/jog back to the start. drills like these help to develop speed and power endurance, the emphasis should be on the quality of the sprint so allow plenty of time to recover as you walk between sprints.

200/400M need Speed endurance training similar to speed or sprint training, however there are two important distinctions:

1. Repetitions should last from 30 seconds up to 2-3 minutes as opposed to 5-10 seconds for speed drills.

2. Rest intervals between repetitions is reduced to prevent complete recovery.

For mid/long distance events 800/1500M.
effective fartlek training session, would be a jog for 60 seconds, followed by a hard run for 30 seconds, followed by a jog for 30 seconds, followed by all-out sprint for 10 seconds, followed by a walk for 30 seconds. This would then be repeated for a total of 20-30 minutes.

Other ideas are:
Middle Distance Events (1500m)
Warm up with a steady jog for 10 minutes
Run hard, above race pace for 3 minutes
Jog slowly for 1 minute
Repeat 6-8 times

(800m)
Warm up with a steady jog for 10 minutes
Run hard, above race pace for 75 seconds
Jog for 150 seconds
Run hard, above race pace for 60 seconds
Jog for 120 seconds
Repeat 3-4 times
Cool down at a steady pace for 10 minutes
