Have you ever heard the term "harvest moon"? It's simply a full moon. it got its name because Pilgrims used to go out on these nights because they were lit up from the moon. The pilgrims would then take their muskets and look up into the trees where the turkeys were roosted and the pilgrims could clearly see the turkeys figures in the light of the moon. The pilgrims would then proceed to shoot the turkeys. The turkeys were so dumb that they wouldn't move even when their fellow turkeys were shot so Pilgrims could take as many as they wanted. I just dont see any way for them to preserve the amount of turkeys they took?!?

There were times when trading with the Indians was going well, the Pilgrims did trade for turkeys and other foodstuffs. When not trading for them, they shot them with their fowling pieces. Turkeys were not domesticated at that time. They were a wild bird. It is highly unlikely that any of the pilgrims or Indians were good enough to capture a wild turkey by hand and wring its neck. That is a technique that is used on domestic birds and on wounded wild birds.

with the bows and arrows they traded the indians for, or they traded other foodstuffs to the indians for the turkeys they killed. I know for sure they grabbed them by the neck and swung the turkey around and around breaking it's neck. They then placed the turkey into a pan or bucket of boiling water to loosen the feathers for plucking .

probably they hired chuck norris to desend from the heavens and kill them with his bare fists. then he cooked all of them, prepared the rest of the food, built their houses, taught the pilgrims how to survive, and made peace w/ the native americans as well. that's why we have thanksgiving, to celebrate chuck norris saving our ancestors.
