Colors on flags don't have a set definition. The colors mean whatever the nation, state, or organization that the flag symbolizes say they mean. For instance, green is used on the Libyan flag (indeed, the whole flag is nothing but green) because green is the traditional color of Islam, the state religion. It is also symbolic of Gaddafi's "Green Revolution".

So, to find out what a color means, you have to go to the source; it varies by flag. Also, it isn't always clear what the colors mean, since there isn't always an official explanation.

Are you asking because you have a certain flag in mind? If so, if you tell us which one, perhaps someone here will know the answer. Otherwise, you can probably look it up on your own. Check out the Flags of the World site, that's a great flag resource.
