it depends--
if you drink coffee regularly (at least 1-2 cups per day), you can actually get a headache if you don't drink coffee one day. this is known as a withdrawal headache from lack of caffeine.
if you are not a regular coffee drinker, then coffee can reduce a headache. headaches are usually caused by the blood vessels in your head dilating or getting bigger in diameter. the caffeine in coffee helps to constrict the blood vessels, which can often reduce or stop a headache.

For a normal headache - no.
If your body is accustomed to a daily dose of caffein and you don't provide any, you may get a headache from caffein withdarwal. Then coffee WOULD reduce the headache.

I've heard that caffiene can end a migrane headache, and I've seen this work from experiences from friends who get migranes.
You can even get a headache from caffiene withdraw. In that case, I suppose it would.
With just a plain old headache, I don't know. The alkaloids or something could have an affect, but I'm by no means a doctor.

The only way coffee can reduce a headache, is if you regularly drink caffeine and have not had any in a while.

Caffeinated coffee is great for most headaches. Caffeine is actually one of the active ingredients in allot of headache/migraine meds. Also if you are used to having a certain amount of caffeine a day, if you abruptly stop it will cause headaches. If that is the case it is best to wen yourself off slowly.

The caffeine in coffee dehydrates the body, making it MORE likely to give you headaches and make you tired.
The only exception to this is if your body has a dependency on caffeine, in which case, not having coffee will give you withdrawel symptoms, which may include headaches.

one of the hallmarks of caffeine addiction and the withdrawal is persistent recurring headaches that linger and are quite bad- onbvious its easy to see how that can be misconstrued as coffee relieving headaches- i dont think there is any real proof it is a cure for headaches but if you are going through caffeiene withdrawal it will obviously fix that.
it does have some minor qualities that help for any headaches, but not completely cure them.

strong black coffee has often been used to relieve migraines. And some migraine medication has caffeine in it. I have often chased a headache away with a cup of coffee.

Temporarily, yes: but not a solution to the problem, certainly!
