We all have all sorts of ...isms... in us.

Humans are basically pack animals and don't like to think too much. If there's a problem, or when ever there's trouble or stress many people look to see if they can place the trouble in some group outside of their own group. Not all people are like this but many.

Remember at school some kids had to be in a gang and wanted to make a gang as soon as they met a group of other children. Being in a gang made their problems much easier, they were protected, they had a set of rules so they knew what to do at certain times, they only had to conform and they were happy. They knew their gang was the best.

So yes, when we can place our problems in a religious group that's outside our group most people feel the temptation to do so. It means we can stop thinking about the problem and just say "ah, its their fault, they are different to us and they are wrong" , job done. Doesn't have to be religious it could be racial or whatever.

Of course if a fleet of hostile spaceship arrived tomorrow and started attacking the earth we would all suddenly be in the same gang, the aliens would be the other gang.

The shame is this religious argument is sending people back to the church, people are arguing for their faith who have never been to a church in their life.

I really don't think it is racism, I think it is more ignorance than anything else. No knows anyone or even wants to try. If people would just take the time to talk to each other and learn about one another, I feel there would be a lot less problems.
I can appreciate your question, but asking this question gives the tone you have chip on your shoulder. Who ever reads this give my answer a try. Good Luck.

For me, there's a tiny little bit of religious racism at times but I don't really show it. It's only in my mind.

I don't believe that it is racism. Religion is the result of humans inability to deal with the realization that death is final. They need the psychological crutch to pretend that life will go on even without the body.

If you mean, " Do people tend to stereo-type a specific religion with a specific race" then yes. I do tend to do this.

I associate Glum white people as Catholics, High strung Blacks as Presbyterians, Indians and Hindu, Middle Easterners and Muslims, etc....

I know that's not completely accurate in reality, but it is the stereotyping that my mind assumes when rational thought is not invoked.

Racism, no. But there is a human tendency to engage in stereotyping of people who are in a different group that we don't belong to or understand.

The trick is to try to keep it under control as much as we can, and try not to let it rule our thoughts or actions.

No, but I think that racism is usually because it is easier to hate people than to deal with whatever might really be bothering you. I`m not sure, but I like to give people a chance and if its not that, than it must just be ignorance.

I can honestly say I don't look down on anyone for their race or religion. I respect all races, love all races, and respect the right for others to believe as they choose.

Now if you define "religious racism" as thinking that your way is the best .... well, OF COURSE. We all believe the way we do because we believe it is the best way. However, that doesn't give us the license to try to cram it down others' throats or attack them for their beliefs. It's okay to think your way is the best (that's why you chose it) but it's not okay to announce to others that your way is best. That's offensive to all.

Is there such a thing as "religious racism"? I was under the impression that you were BORN a certain race, but you CHOOSE religion. So....being racist is wrong, as it's a genetic thing, but being against religion is perfectly ok, as it's an intellectual (or otherwise) choice. Anyone?

Racism? No. Perhaps bigotry. It goes with thinking that you are right. And defending that can certainly seem bigoted. It's something we all need to work on changing.
