Thanks for the compliment oxyman42. I certainly take the eternal destiny of my fellow human beings seriously. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This from the guy who hasn't cracked a joke in months! That's pretty good.

But seriously, I'm inclined to disagree. I think this guy's problem is that he's UNserious about his religion. If he were truly serious, then not only would he NOT have given a thought to his dong, he would hardly have known where it is. Er, was.

Sad to read this sort of story. The monk is misguided! In situation like this, the monk should have discussed with his teacher. The teacher must had given him a wrong meditation subject!A person with lust should normarlly be given subjects like:a rotting human corpse,a wilting flower or the unwholesomeness of the 32 parts of the body.

May the monk be well and safe!

Obviously he was having difficulty overcoming his hormones and natural body functions, it's a shame some religious people can't accept human nature, how can they ever hope to have any understanding of the supernatural when they get it so wrong about what is natural.

he obviously forgot the part of Buddhism about ending suffering, because he had to have caused quite a bit of it. Buddha specifically scorned self-mortification.

the event sounds like a product of mental problems rather than religious beliefs.

The poor monk just misunderstood the teachings he recieved.

The Bible tells all men to do this also. It says that if a body part causes you to sin you should cut it off. All men masturbate and all men have lusted after women, so according to the Bible, we should all be penis-less.

Yeah, I think he's taking it too seriously but if he wanted to whack his weenie off, then that's his decision.
