According to Catholicism, anyway, it is certainly possible to marry the wrong person. Problem is, you promised to be faithful 'for better or worse, till death do us part.' In other words, thank God for your blessings, ask His help, and make the best of your marriage. If your spouse dies, then you may of course remarry. If your spouse is still living, then yes, it is adultury. As for heaven or hell, that's up to God and not me.

Maybe this other person was put into your life as a test. You chose to marry your spouse and vowed your loyalty to them. Maybe you should decide what's the right thing to do, here are your options...
Break your vows and word by divorcing your spouse, marry another person, and MAYBE live happily with them for the rest of your life
or...
Stay loyal to the person you've married, choose to not abandon what you've already committed yourself to and what God has united, and live an ETERNITY being happy.
Don't give up on what God has given you. :)

If you married the wrong person, then you should marry the right person. Plus, if you "allow" the wrong person to go marry someone else, it isn't adultery because adultery is where you lay with someone other then your spouse without your spouse's permission.

The disolution of a marriage must be a mutual decision. If both parties agree equally then it is ok to separate ways and move on.

You could live in misery just to make God happy I guess if you believe in a fictional bearded daddy up in the sky with a particular interest in making your life unpleasant.

Only if you believe that God doesn't run the world.
"You are where God wants you to be, but the next step you make is your choice."

It doesn't really matter what you do as long as it isn't illegal.
