after the first mating it usually takes about a week for the hen to start laying.they usually start laying after areally rainy season.you might want to put a very small amount of wood shavings in the nest box so that when the eggs hatch the chicks wont become "spraddled legged".this helps keep their legs from spreading to far out when they are young ang groing..After the hen lays her last egg( could be up to 6 or 8) it takes about 18 days for them to hatch. they will hatch in the order laid ,every other day,and maybe no all eggs will hatch. If this is her first clutch, she may hatch and ignore the babies, because she is just an immature momma. But the next time will be better.. Just make sure you give plenty of calcium and grit.

It took my cockatiels about 7 - 10 days after I put the nestbox in the cage to start laying eggs. Then she laid one egg every other day until she laid 4 eggs. I just candled them the other day & all 4 of them are fertile. How old are the cockatiels? Are you sure you have a male & a female? (It happens more often than you might think! LOL)

Cockatiels, females, that is, don't have to mate to lay eggs. The eggs will, of course, be infertile. But mating and not laying could be a calcium problem. Are you giving her grit and oyster shell? Also are you keeping her in a warm enough place? Don't want her to become eggbound. Dead bird usually. But beyond all that......it's really not breeding season. I have 16 macaws. Some species begin breeding next month and others later. They tend to be more instinctive that the cockatiels, tho. In Brasil it is the beginning of the dry season, like our spring. So maybe your cockatiels are waiting for spring.......and just practicing.

You need to take out the nestbox! If you keep it in, they could run the chance of laying fertile eggs.

It takes approx one week assuming mating was successful and egg laying will continue at intervals. Good luck.

It depends on the fertilization time. Also, the male might not be fertile...but the female could be very close. You'll just have to wait and be patient.
