LOL...I honestly never heard of crackers! (How about cheese and crackers)? Ya know, things like that I could care less about. I have black friends, Asian friends, white friends, but the Bible says we are all the same! It's water off a ducks back for me ;-)

No I don't think it's fair to be racist, period. Black people shouldn't refer to whites in a derogatory manner or vice versa. No one should be spoken to in a racist manner of any kind. I would be highly offended if a black or any other racially diverse person called me or my race something with a racial tone & I would call them on it & not accept it.

My ego isn't so fragile that I would be insulted over being called by anything. I think I would look at the intent of the person doing the calling. This would give me the opportunity to return love for hate. It is my test. I can fail it or I can pass it. I can laugh at myself. I call myself a gringa. It makes my hispanic friends laugh. Laughter is exercize for the soul. I turn the insult into a joke. I must prove with my love that I'm not a gringa, no matter what they call me. If I'm insulted by the racial epithet, then, I AM a gringa.
I think whitey doesn't get upset when he's called "cracker", or whatever is because he was never treated as a second-class citizen. He was never made to feel he was anything but first class. No. I would never use an insulting racial slur to/about anyone, because I believe there is only one race--the human race; and the differences among us is something to admire, not depreciate.
I think we must all learn to laugh at ourselves; but, never, ever demonstrate anything but love for others.
A person who insults only shows who s(he) is--it says nothing about the person being insulted.
"'O outwardly fair and inwardly faulty! Thy likeness is like unto clear bitter water, wherein outwardly the utmost sweetness and purity is beheld, but when it falleth into the assaying hands of the taste of the [Divine] Unity He doth not accept a single drop thereof. The radiance of the sun is on the earth and on the mirror alike; but regard the difference as from the 69 guard-stars to the earth; nay, between them is a limitless distance.'
(Abdu'l-Baha, A Traveller's Narrative, p. 68)
Though we all, among ourselves, in our devotional allegiance have our own individual loyalties, to all of us 'Abdu'l-Bahá brings, and has brought, a message of Unity, of sympathy and of Peace. He bids us all be real and true in what we profess to believe; and to treasure above everything the Spirit behind the form. With him we bow before the Hidden Name, before that which is of every life the Inner Life! He bids us worship in fearless loyalty to our own faith, but with ever stronger yearning after Union, Brotherhood, and Love; so turning ourselves in Spirit, and with our whole heart, that we may enter more into the mind of God, which is above class, above race, and beyond time.
(Abdu'l-Baha, Abdu'l-Baha in London, p. 34)

No I don't think its fair. The racist card seems to be pulled out a lot by people of all races, religions, creeds, sexual orientation, etc. It gets pretty tiresome.

that is based on colour of skin, so there are different opinions to different people. Maybe you don't get offended by it, but many people do, so you might do more research on that before you bring this up again, nothing personal.

not sure why this is a religion and spirituality question.
I don't care to hear someone refer to me as a "cracker", but I am not offended as I have learned that being offended is really a selfish reaction.
