As long as you look at everyone as imperfect human beings who make mistakes, forgive them for the mistakes they make and accept them for who they are without regard to race, religion, sexual orientation or social status....absolutely.

Many of the people in this forum LIVE tolerance and acceptance. It's not that difficult. You don't have to agree with everything about the person to love someone, and you don't have to approve of everything they do to accept them.

with some, yes. But not the majority. The problem is fear of what they don't undertand and the unwillingness to try to learn. I am willing to bet that 99.9% of all Christians would never be tolerant towards a Wiccan. I am not sure how Muslims feel but I imagine it would be about the same.Tho 99.9% of Wiccans ARE tolerant towards everyone. It seems to me that the most tolerant religions are probably Buddhism & Wicca. I can respect you no matter what you believe.

Tolerance is accepting the harsh with the polite. Realizing that we are not going to agree, but respecting anyway. To enter the debate honestly even if at times it is difficult.

It has been possible before, it is possible once again.

"Political correctness" will need to end. It only silences the conversation.

IF
by tolerance you mean that everything is acceptable, that there is no truth or ultimate meaning, or essence of life, worth standing up for and defending,
THEN
no.

IF,
on the other hand, you mean by tolerance that we exercise the Golden Rule as Jesus said:
Luke 6:31 "And just as you want people to treat you, treat them in the same way."
THEN,
YES!!

No I do not because some cultures will kill to protect that culture, tolerance is stretched to it's limit today, and it is being thrown out with the dish water, violence is and will continue to escalate because peoples tolerance is gone.

How do you resolve issues of right and wrong? Do you "tolerate" a person or group who believes in child abuse? Who determines what is acceptable and what is not? What if my acceptable is not to you? What if you believe in war and I believe in peace? Lots of questions to answer first.

Yes. WHen the lion lays with the lamb. Until then, we sure can try to see things from others point of view. Too many walk around thinking they are the only one that knows much of anything.

I know, I walked around like that most of my life.

Lets all try!

Yes of course.
the only question is:
Do we raise our children to practise love/tolerance ( which is the same) or do we raise them to practise the opposite???

While we do try (that is, those of us who truly follow the tenets of their peaceful religions) unfortunately since we live in a sinful world, and therefore I would have to answer honestly "it's not possible".
