Lucifer refers back to the morning celebrity which became additionally the goddess Ishtar and subsequently referred, interior the context of Isaiah, to the Babylonian Empire, or extra particularly to its ruler. it is the sole place interior the Tanakh the place Lucifer looks. there is not any reason by any capacity to equate this with any Christian theory of the 'the devil'. Others have defined completely that the devil who's spoken of interior the Tanakh is the adversary or accuser, who G-d makes use of as - nicely, as a "devil's recommend"! - continually fullyyt under G-d's administration. EDIT: i could now not be the sole individual at here receiving abusive digital mail from R?g??e?ato? ? servant of mummra. i'm fullyyt happy for human beings to have their very own theology - yet once you ask approximately what's written interior the Jewish scriptures it might look well mannered to now not insult the folk who attempt to describe how those scriptures are understood via the Jews themselves.

hmm shaitan , the semetic satan , the greek chaos , the egytian god set or seth all derive from the same idea and that is a balance between negative and positive energy but seeing the term satan is mentioned before islam came into existence i don't think that sounds right , many religions would demonify the gods of groups in the area whos religion had previously dominated the culture in order to successful convert or outcast its followers, hence why there is such a relationship between images of satan and images of pan

Muslim name? Not hardly. Christians were on the scene long before the Muslims. 600 years prior.
Satan is also used in the book of Job, which precedes Muslims by ca. 1600 years.
Now, remember, Muslim is not a language. Think about this question again, and reword it.

Islam form 500+ yrs after Christianity. Unless someone from earlier travel back to future with a time-portal, then possible.
Jews, Christianity and Islam are all originated from a root and a geographical area. It's like a franchise and eventually break free of it's own path with local culture influences.
If you consider time-line... don't make sense.

'Scuse me - it was in the Bible long before Muslims were ever invented! lol. And yes, I knew it meant "the adversary". As "devil" or "diabolos" means "scandal mongerer".
Edit: David, just for the record, I think Islam is more like 1600 years old than 600 years. Perhaps a typo?

Actually, Satan means "accuser" in Hebrew. Check out the footnotes on Satan in the book of Job.

It really does not matter where his name comes from, The fact that Satan exist and is creating havoc in the lives of mankind, is what bothers me. And for those that don't believe in Satan and his hoard of fallen angels are in for a very rude awaking........ And the evil that mankind does should tell you beyond any reasonable doubt about a evil out side source is influencing the minds of mankind............

"Satan" comes from Middle English, from Old English, from Late Latin, from Greek, from Hebrew "śātān".
It could not come to Christianity from Islam since Islam came about 500 years after Christianity. Since "śātān" is Hebrew, it is likely it is related to the Arab name since both languages are Semitic.

I find it hard to believe anything Christian or Jewish comes from Muslim words. Islam is 600 years old. Christian is 2000, Jewish is like 7000. How can this be?
Id like some more proof

Are you by chance giving credit for all the Arabic languages and dialects to Islam? The language existed before the religion.
