No Friggin Way...Your Docs Yes But Yor Programs No...They Need Registy Entries To Function Properly...Windows XP Has This Nifty Little Feature That Allows You To 'Update' From A Previous Version Of Windows And Keep All Your Files And Settings...You Might Wanna Try That.....

Maybe. There is a program out there called Partition Magic that may let you do that. Also, if you are installing Xp on a older os such as SE or ME the Xp install has that feature built in. If you are just going to re-format an Xp system, then, no, unless you have a back-up of some kind like tweekui or spywareblaster on an all ready partitioned drive.

There is an option to restore to original settings without formatting. Do not format drive C as you will lose everything. I think you need to try system restore first. Always bbeack up your documents to disk and forward emails etc to an external account like hotmail. Whichever way, you will lose your additional programmes you installed after windows. Make sure you realy need to reinstall. Try to solve problems by other means.
