Sounds like an emergency to me! get him to a vet ASAP. Could be choking on something! Check his throat with a flashlight to see if you can see anything lodged in there. Otherwise, please see a vet before serious damage is done.

You might want to take him to the vet just in case, but most likely he is having hairballs. This is totally normal for cats. To help him pass it instead of having to throw it up, they make yummy products that is easy to give and prevents hairballs from getting stuck in their tummy's. You can find these at Walmart and any store that sells pet supplies.
Throwing up for a cat is very stressful. When he does throw up, try petting him and try to sooth him.
They will naturally try to cover it up. Some will try to throw up in a hidden spot, some try to eat it(i know gross!), some will hide and think they will be in trouble.
You should take him to the vet in case it is something else.
Again, when he does try not to get mad he just stained your good sofa or carpet. They will naturally feel horrible because it is a sign of weakness in the animal kingdom.
I give my cats a gel that they LOVE for hairballs and they have no problems now.

Being listless is never a good sign, you should take him to the vet. Make sure he is peeing ok and is not blocked. Hairballs unless severe don't make cats listless but they can sound a little wheezy when trying to bring them up.

i'm no longer a vet, and prefer all different guy or woman pronounced, a verify-up via a qualified vet is the final answer. I had a cat that wheezed, and whilst i began observing the internet, i got here upon that between the reasons could desire to be heartworms!! this is why you ought to flow to the vet - - it may desire to be something extra extreme than you will possibly think of.

Give him a bit of Petroleum Jelly, he'll more than likely lick it off of your finger most cats like the taste. If it's a hairball this should help. If he is still sick tomorrow I'd call the Vet.

IMO this sounds more serious than a hairball, I would take him to the vet ASAP just to be sure that nothing is terribly wrong.
