Am I alone on this or you also cannot help it but spoil him ? Not 'rotten', mind you..... I try not to but I cannot stop pamper him and probably spoil him a little bit by buying him little things that please him. Someone told me "OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO SPOILHIM A BIT... IF YOU DON'T WHO WILL ??" Am I a weak father or is all this normal ?! Other fathers of 7, 8 or 9 year old boys step forward and tell me PLEASE.

Being a good parent is not about spoiling your child. It's about providing love, honesty, protection & discipline. You better make sure your son doesn't have a sense of entitlement. You're not doing your child much good by spoiling him. He'll grow up to be a spoiled adult & when you're ready for him to be a responsible adult, he may not be because of him being spoiled. Your child will respect you more if you raise him to be self-sufficient.
