Ok so here goes last night me and my friend were out and about with our two seperate cars going to pick up people to go out to Boston for the night. Unfortunately there was a incident. My friend and me while on a side road picking up friends got into a accident with each other but who is at fault for this? I was already in drive with my foot on the brake in the middle of the street in my car waiting to go straight ahead my friend was about 25 feet ahead parked at the curb. Just as I started to go ahead thinking he knew to go straight as well I realised too late my friend decided to pull a 3/point U turn in the other direction causing me to smash into his rear driver side quater panel of the car with my front bumper as he was sideways (think roadblock) in the street and I was driving straight ahead. My car a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis is not damaged his car a 1999 Toyota Solara got really extensive damage to the quater panel driver side. Who is at fault for this :(!!!!

In MA where we live the driver's manual states as one of the AT-FAULT accidents as making a u-turn or left turn into traffic is automatic at fault and yes we were on a quiet residential narrow street when he whipped a U-turn.

He is. You had the right of way. He has to wait for you to go by before he pulls out.

I hoped you called the police. I learned the hard way that ust because its your friend doesnt mean you shouldnt call the police. I got screwed over pretty good once and there was no way to prove that she was lying. It sounds like it was his fault do to the fact that in most places u turns are illegal for this very reason. If he wasnt breakin the law then you couldnt have hit him right. I mean think about it, if he were doing what he were soposed to and going down the side of the street and the direction he was soposed to be going you couldnt have hit his rear driver quarter panel. well good luck

Assuming there substitute into sufficient easy exterior, i could say your pal could be at fault. If not, did you the two have your lighting fixtures fixtures on ? if he did not, then he could be completely at fault, in case you probably did not ? then you definately would would desire to different than particularly some the blame additionally, ''yet think of roughly it ?'' Did you 2 contain the police interior the situation ? If not, the final difficulty to do is the two one in all you men come across a save or somebody who can restoration the wear fee effectively and the two one in all you split the bill in 0.5, this type neither of you get a twist of fate against your coverage regulations and the coverage companies do not improve the two one in all your costs. this type the two one in all it is undemanding to stay friends, a minimum of you probably did not go through any injury on your motor vehicle whether it could have been worst. Ask your pal what he thinks of this answer....

-was he doing a u turn in the middle of the street, no sign or light?

If you were waiting in the street, then you have given the right-of-way to other car to pull into the lane of traffic. When you decided to 'go', and hit other car, this put you at fault.
Once you stop, you must remain stopped until other car has pulled out.

Sorry. You are at fault. You made an assumption. That was the mistake and you must face the consequences.
