Im addicted to pepsi and coke. I have cut down, but I still drink alot of soda pop. I used to go through 2 cases (24 pack) of soda pop. That is closed to 50 cans a week, Im not joking. I have been able to cut down to a 12 pack a week. I can't live without it. When I wake up in the morning, Im craving a soda. I crave soda all times of the day. How can I stop drinking so much soda. I tried to go to turkey, but after like a week, I start up again. The soda pop calls my name and eventually I give in and start drinking soda pop again. I know its not good for you, but I just can't stop. Is their like anything that the doctor can subscribe to me to cut out my cravings. Im not even sure if its consider a real addiction like tabacco is, but I can't quit even if I try. Do you have any suggestions on how I can quit. I don't know why im so addicted to eat and I know that if I don't quit I will have a higher chance of getting a heart attack or dying from obisity. What should I do.

Try cutting down just a little bit at a time like only have 10 for a week then 8 then 6 then 4 then 3 then 2 then 1 or something like that. If you do that then it might help a bit.

It's the caffeine that you're addicted to. You should not try to quit cold turkey because if you are like me, you will get that awful withdrawal headache (I get one if I haven't had caffeine within the first couple hours of waking up). You should try and ween yourself off of it a little at a time maybe by having your first soda in the morning then mixing half regular with half caffeine free during the day then all caffeine free after 4pm or so until you are able to go totally caffeine free and maybe even switch to water. Best wishes!

I had a similar addiction, about 6 to 8 sodas a day...i woke up one day about three months ago and just quit, cold turkey. I had headaches (deprived of the sugar and caffeine) for about a week and cravings for about two weeks...but, I got through it and now have no cravings, sleep better, and feel better...just quit.

Becuase when you drink that much soda it's like a drug addiction only with caffine. You need to ween your self off a little every day.

Replace it with mineral water and something sweet maybe to eat, you might gain a little weight but after a while when you get used to that and stop craving you can get of them.
