Cops don't use wattage meters, they use a db meter(or their ears in small towns!) and if they register a high enough reading at 50ft then they ticket you for disturbing the peace. So it doesn't matter if you have 10,000 watts as long as cops don't hear it. Also, don't be stupid and leave your stereo up at traffic lights. Believe it or not, the little old people in the car next to you don't care how much bass you have, and nowadays they carry cell phones with whcih to call the law on you. So don't act stupid just because you don't see cops...cell phone are faster than patrol cars. Have fun

In Washington State there is no legal limit to watts, the law says "if you can hear it clearly at 75-100 feet from the enclosed vehicle then you are breaking the law.

Around here if the cops can hear you when you drive by, you've exceeded the limit. I think each every area has its own set of guidelines and differ widely.

it's not the amount of watts that you have that makes it illegal, it's the decibels and it's about 80, depending on the cop that may pull you over

as far as i know you can have as many as you want but you just cant play it loud enuff to where ppl can hear it from over 50 feet away
