Mostly everything I hear about Islam comes from a textbook or from my friend. I generally believe my textbook because it comes from a reliable source and because it has a lot of good information. I believe my friend because she loves her religion and she is a fair person. The only things she every says about Islam are things she has observed that she likes, so I listen.

I haven't heard anything good about Islam, sorry to say that, but all my experiences have been listening to terrorist want to cut off heads and jihad. What I am thinking is that just like Christianity it is taking a bad rap from some people. Out there I hope there are many who practice that faith who are kind and good people. It only takes a few bad apples to wreck things. Its a shame so much hatred comes from religion and that includes Christianity. No, I don't try to figure out if it is true because I wouldn't know where to look for that truth. However, when I meet people of that faith I am respectful and give them the benefit of the doubt that they are a good person.

First of all, I wanted to reply to Freddy F's post. "Islam condones female circumcision" You are wrong. Circumcision is widely practiced Africa amongst Muslim communities as well as non-muslim communities.
There is no absolute proof from the sources of Islam prescribing female circumcision, the vast majority of scholars do not include it in the OBLIGATORY rituals of Islam.
And now, to the asker's question.
I do not believe everything I hear. It certianly disturbs me to hear all the odious things that are being said. But I ask around people who are knowledge.
Also, another very good website with great minds and scholars on Islam, is very helpful for clearing misconceptions.

The worst I have heard or read about Islam is the false translation of the Quran by Yusuf Ali and others who have falsely inserted Jesus and Jews and Christians as the Word of Allah in defiance of Allah.
On Yahoo7! Answers most who claim to be Muslim strongly defend the false translation of Jesus in Quran and they dont understand that Quran is the Word of the Creator and their desecration of Quran is rebellious and wicked and a serious breach of the Shariah of Allah in Quran and that they incur the curse of Allah on themselves for this infidelity.
Allah never says that Jesus was not crucified but He says that Isa al Masih was not crucified and who will dare to doubt the Wisdom and Knowledge and Power of Allah and dictate Scripture to Allah?

The only thing that makes my blood boil is the knowledg that Islam condones female child circumcision. I fail the understand how any parent can allow such a barbaric practice to be carried out on any child let alone their own.
