Okay well since a sarcastic dead dog isn't completely feasible, a more mellow type of dog. Like chichuahuas tend to bark their heads off but Bassets are more mellow.

dead. a dead little dog. all dogs bark. there are training programs that teach dogs not to bark, but they can be expensive

Okay, Basenjis don't techinically bark, but I've heard that they make a sort of yodeling sound that can become annoying. Bassets DO whine and bark. Every single basset I've worked with has been unbelievably irritating. I can't think of a single breed that is naturally quiet, so it depends on the dog's personality and how it was raised.

Anyone who says all little dogs bark alot are uneducated. I have a three lb chi and a 4 lb pomeranian. Both are well trained, they NEVER bark unless on comand, when someone comes to the door they get excited but don't bark as I have trained them not to. I have had other dogs in my past, a Rotweiler, a German shepard, and another chi, all of which NEVER barked unless on comand. Its all about the training and personality of you and the dogs.

I have a German Shepherd and a Border Collie. Now, wether the Shepherd does all the barking for both, I'm not sure, but the Collie barks a lot less of the two.

I have noticed from my experience that the Shih Tzu is a pretty quiet dog. Some people think small dogs are all noisy. This is an absolute myth. With most Shih Tzus, you have to egg them on with toys or try to get them to "speak". Otherwise, they are quiet, loving, faithful dogs :) Dawn

Samoyed's rarely bark. You can train a dog not to bark with a citronella no bark collar.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are not big barkers, and I've never met a barky Shih-Tzu.

Akita. but they're big and hard to manage, not very cuddly, aloof, but great protectors. And they're so fuzzy! The also shed a lot.
