The doctor says I have tendonitus in my wrist and told me to wear a brace and take Ibuprofen, but everytime I wear the brace for a while my wrist hurts worse than before I put it on. Do I really have tendonitus. I would like ya'lls opinion.

The main objective of the static splint is to keep the joint immobile until the swelling/inflammation has a chance to subside. If you can tolerate wearing a wrap (such as the one that Samm suggests) plus a cloth sling--just for a week or so--this would be an exceptable alternative. The problem with the hand splint is the constant pressure on the palm and a fixed position of the wrist for long periods.

On preliminary examination, tendonitus was probably the most likely cause. The brace and the ibuprofen are there to relieve the swelling. Usually, it takes 5-7 days. If your symptoms don't improve by then, revisit your doctor.

That's what we pay the Dr's for. He is probably right but you may just need a different type wrap or brace.

I use these elastic half gloves from Walmart for my Rheumatoid Arthritis in my wrists. They have an elastic wrap to tighten around the wrist.\\ In the pharmacy area, they are about $8.00 for a pair. They are quite helpful.
