Well, the only advice I can give is that the closest thing to the camera looks the largest. So if you have big hips, stick your butt out so your hips look smaller. Is that understandable. Anyways, good luck!

There are two elements. The subject (you?) and the photographer.
If you are confident about your looks when you look in the mirror, show that confidence! Relax, remember that a forced smile shows, body posture is less important than facial expression. If your body is well-proportioned and, again, you are confident, flout the best parts. Show off but be RELAXED. If you look good - show it by being RELAXED!!!!!!!
The photographer is key. He/she can see what looks right and what does't. if you are inexperienced, the photographer should guide you. If the photographer is inexperienced, you both need to look at photographs by other photographers and 'borrow'. their ideas.
A tilted head is always better than an ID stance, the eyes are VERY important and they MUST be sharp and show reflected highlights. make up will make a HUGE difference but it has to be subtle.
Try going to model-agency websites that show portfolios of their models, both boys and girls. See how they pose. Copy..

No tight fitting clothes as they only accentuate the fat. Wear dark clothes as dark recedes from the vision while light or white colour expands and moves towards the viewer. Striped or vertical two colour split top and striped trousers as it increases vertical height visually. Stand the model sideways tilting slightly towards the camera, next to smaller object to give the feeling of height. Use landscape mode so there is more free space on both sides of the model. Make the model stand with three forth light falling on the model from the side so one third part of the model remains dark. Happy photographing.

Breathe. Don't forget to breathe. That will help you to relax and look more natural.
