I have two small children and want to know. Any ideas?

My children did not eat any magnets....a little boy died from eating magnets in the news. I was just wondering what happens to the body.

I think I know about the story you are talking about. A child ate some magnets and died because when the magnets starting passing through the intestines they stuck to each other causing the intestines to become pinched off. It is best to be on the safe side and keep all small magnets away from your children.

I guess it depends on the magnet. It could lodge in their throat and be a choking hazard. Not sure if the magnetic properties themselves can pose any problems that would be for a doctor to answer. I heard the children that swallowed the Polly Pockets magnets (that were recalled) had to have surgery. I would think eventually they would pass in their stool.

It has to be iron, so it will not harm, look for the passing in their stool.
