It sounds corny, but i find a good book works, especially if you have some relaxing music on as well.

The best time to get to sleep is when your mind & body tells you to.....their is involvement of tissues....this can be through respirtory activities

Na mate, you don't want to masterbate before going to bed, just put on a dvd such as the simpsons or futurama, NOT A FILM. your be off like a light before the end of the first episode.

Write out all your troubled restless thoughts on a piece of paper.
Then practise slow breathing in bed to relax yourself. Make sure curtains are closed to prevent glare from streetlights, and remove ticking clocks....then...oh you're asleep already

A lump of cheese is good - even if you have weird dreams as a consequence... I find a glass of water and a good book or magazine does the trick of relaxing me before I go to sleep!
