l_brew0 (Reply #2): You've never seen it happen? I see it ALL THE TIME.

Thanks for the reply, alessa. But everytime I see "Micheal", phonetically, I see it as My-keel... which sounds even more retarded than "My-kay-el".
I suppose it should have been spelled "Mikull".

Micheal is a more common spelling in Ireland [I should know, I'm Irish Amearican]. I grew up spelling it Mike. Then I changed it to Michael. Now, sometimes I spell it Michael and sometimes I spell it Michael, and sometimes I just spell it Mick.
Yes, miy name is Micheal [Michael]

It's spelled Michael. With an A-E-L, *NOT* E-A-L. If it was spelled Micheal, then it'd be pronounced "My-keel" which sounds atrocious!

I do that all the time, I think it has to do with the I before E rule... I never seem to know where to put the E if it doesnt follow that rule. That and I do believe that I have some sort of typographical dyslexia. My father is dyslexic, and I have always gotten letters mixed up, spelled backwards or I come up some other fubared spelling for a simple word.

Hi Michael, There are to close together. All you have to do is reverse a to e. That is a natural mistake. Just look at both names. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

Just as a pointer for Grapelady who answered earlier, (sorry to hijack the question but you might be interested) The I before E rule is often only half used. The full version of the rule goes:
I before E, except after C
Provided the syllable rymes with a T
So: F.i.e.l.d.
C.e.i.l.i.n.g.
B.e.l.i.e.v.e.
But: S.l.e.i.g.h.
N.e.i.g.h.
