Local Legislatures Doing The Job
That The Federal Government Refuses To Do
This WILL Be The Spark That Lights The Fire
I Think The Government At Local Levels
SHOULD Be Given The Authority To Govern Their Jurisdictions
WITHOUT Interference From The Federal Government
If They Don't Already Have It
It Is The VOTERS That Put These Representatives Into Office
For The Specific Reason
Of REPRESENTING Their Voices In The Lawmaking Decisions
Of Their Cities, Counties And States
For The Federal Government To DENY
Or UNDERMINE The Ability
Of The Cities, Counties And States
To Govern Their Jurisdictions
Is Paramount To Saying That The Voices Of The People (Voters)
Will Be IGNORED
This Is Unacceptable

I Think The Local Levels Of Government Should Set The Standard For The Federal Government NOT The Other Way Around City. County And State Legislatures Usually Do Stand Behind Their Constituents The Feds Should Realize The States Rulings And Shape Federal Laws To Encompass The Demands Of The Voting Majority Using Local Legislatures As A Guide Instead Of Forcing Federal Legislature (Amnesty For Example) On States That Clearly OPPOSE The Federal Guidelines (Laws)

They can tell you what you can do in your own home, invent fines that compile so fast they can seize your home, and do many other things just for aesthetic issues, what makes you think they don't have the authority to do this? Yes, the federal government SHOULD be handling the issue, the election result a few weeks ago is a result of how people feel about the lack of action in doing so. The old saying was that only the level of government that taxes your property has the right to regulate what you do with it. They can confiscate your car, real estate or firearms if you break the law with their use, they would be just as legally empowered to confiscate property or businesses used to employ or house illegal aliens. As an unemployed citizen ineligible for unemployment benefits, I hope they start doing this.

I heard on the news that cities & etc. couldn't override the Federal government and that laws had already been passed by them. I wonder who one would report to in the Federal government and just what those laws state. The Federal government should be enforcing it, but I think it is up to people to report illegal immigration. If the Federal government can't or won't enforce the law, we need to do something about it.

Where there is taxation, there should be representation. Residents of various municipalities certainly have the right to determine how they want to use and delegate their resources. Just a note...federal laws do not always automatically supersede state or local laws. Conflicts between the two are tested in courts or administrative hearings all the time.

All municipalities, state, county and local have full authority to do this. We have a federal government, not a large centralized government. The states are independent to a large degree with overlapping, shared and cooperative powers with regard to this. Technically, federal laws with regard to this are not binding, even if they are constitutional (a state can make up its mind to ignore the feds up to the point of ceding from the union, but not over that line). This is never done in practice but just so you know state and local governments COOPERATE with the feds, they are not beholden to them as their lord and master.
And especially in the case where the feds refuse jurisdiction and refuse to take action, as in the case of illegal immigration, the states have full authority to fill that vacuum, particularly if there is an extreme need....especially if they are funding the action taken.
In other words, these cities can act with impunity and if you don't like it, that is just tough. If you are able to convince enough people, the feds could, theoretically, tell them to stop. But the states could also, theoretically, just ignore them.

The Federal government isn't doing their job of enforcing our laws; thereby forcing the cities/states do do so, themselves. I think they should have FULL capacity to deal with illegal immigrants and bill the Federal government for all costs related to enforcing the laws, including costs of detainment. In fact, I think cities and states should start suing the Federal government of their lack of enforcing our laws. If this started happening, it might force the Federal government to do what they have been elected to do - enforce our laws and keep our country safe!

The issue *should* be handled by the Federal Government. But in fact our laws (for what ever reason) are not being enforced. Thus the cities, etc find it necessary to pass these laws in their own self interest.

each city/county/state has their own authority to create such laws in regarding immigration. If the Federal government fails to do their job, then the city and state can do such task.

They should have full authority.
One of the issues that started our civil war was "States Rights," the right to pass laws and not have them superseded by the Federal Government. I hope that we will not have to come to that again over illegal immigration.
