I would not want to become a catholic nun for many reasons, least of which being the one that you mentioned. I believe if someone truly understood the Gospel of Jesus Christ, they would clearly see that there is no reason to be cloistered away from society, celibate by force to prove your devotion to God. That is ANOTHER Gospel. Flee from it!

It is a convenience to persecute the Catholic Church by constantly pointing to scandals in the abscence of context with other professionals. It's grossly unfair.

Study upon study, statistic after statistic proves that Protestant ministers have a higher rate of scandals, the difference is that more is expected from a priest than a minister, and a scandal on a priest will sell more papers than a scandal on a minister.

Only the Catholic Church has taken definitive steps, and is committed to more research oh how to stop these terrible atrocites, more than any other church, but the persecution goes on, and the myths go on too.

What are your options for kids when teachers are 100X more likely to abuse children than priests?

But forget the victims, just 'get the church' at the expense of the truth.

Your question assumes that celibacy is guaranteed to pervert one into a child molester. If your premise was correct, there would be a higher percentage of pedophilia amongst Catholic Clergy. Right now, only 6% of clergy are believed to have anything to do with the Clergy sex scandal. Granted, that's 6% too many but it is low enough to prove celibacy is most certainly NOT the cause of the clergy sex abuse.

absolutely not. Less than 4% of the clergy have had a problem with this the statistics show it is across the board with all religions and walks of life. Why pick on just the Catholics?

The greater danger is in the secular society.

I mean really, the stats speak for themselves.

Molestation by secular people far outnumbers in the priesthood.
