a good reason is to show u can be a responsible person by having a cell phone and paying for a portion of the charges keep it safe and not abusing it

Since you're too young to get a real job, ask him if there are chores around the house you could do to pay for the phone and it's services. Parents like when you take responsibility like that.
Also, you could always tell him that you'll settle for one of those prepaid cells. That way if you start slacking on chores, he can just stop buying minutes for you and he won't be stuck in a contract. (the more planned out you make things sound, the better chances he may give in)
Although, 13 is still alittle young for a cell phone. But I guess most kids have them at that age now.

your father is right - since you are too young to pay for a phone by yourself, you are too young to have one.
If your best reason is truly to contact him or your mom in an emergency (a good reason in my opinion), then ask him to get you the "cricket" plan where you get a phone that is basically a glorified walkie talkie and you can only call 2 or 3 numbers.
Yes it sounds lame to you, but if you show your dad that you are responsible for that phone, then perhaps when you are in highschool, like grade 10 or 11, and you have a job where you can pay for your own portion of a family plan with real phones, then he may consider it.

The reason I used was that my mom always wanted to know where I was when I left the house, so it would make her feel more comfortable. Also, when I turned 15, I got a job as a lifegaurd and pay for everything myself now.

If I were you and I wanted a phone, I would do things to prove myself worthy of that responsibility. Like do chores around the house without being asked. Make them see you can be responsible and that you are mature enough. Dont just do it once or twice either, becasue then it is phony and they wont be impressed. To get provileges you have to be responsible.

Tell him: that you would like a cellphone for emergency purposes. now a days, people need a cellphone. if you're going outdoors, and ever have an emergency, how will you get in touch with a family member. God forbid if you're ever abducted, how will you phone help. if you're in a place and there are no public phones (which i noticed there has been a lack), how will you phone for help.
Seriously.. everybody needs a cellphone for emergency purposes.

You don't need a phone. Get a prepaid one if you must, for about $60 you can get a prepaid and add time $20 at a time as you use it. Cell phones are not cheap.

say that wat happens if 1 day ur walking and sum 1 is following u then u r gonna need 2 call 4 help. and w/ out a cell phone u cant call 4 help. and say u didnt have any money on u or there were no pay phones and u couldnt call no body. becuase u didnt have a cell phone.

Tell him that the reason is because you feel that you are responsible enough to own your own phone and that it will give you a chance to learn responsibitlies of using minutes on a phone.

tell him that it is a solution to make sure i am ok when i am out at a relative or a friend and they can always make sure i am safe and sound...moreover..in case of troubles..ur cell will be the fastest way to solve it
