I bought a Mrs. Smith traditional custard pumpkin pie. Directions read 75-85 minutes at 375 degrees. I did that but the pie still seemed like it was boiling inside. I left it another 30 minutes. I checked it again and it was very watery when I stuck a knife inside. So I left it another 15 minutes. It's still a little watery.

The instructions say to pull out the pie and let it sit for 2 hours before eating. Is this because the pie hardens or should I leave it in the oven more until the knife comes out clean?

Ive baked pumpkiin pies before, but never had this problem. Please help!

My question is this

When ive baked Mrs Smiths pumpkin pies i leave them in the oven for the full 85 minutes. When i take them out of the oven they still seem sloshy in the middle but once they sit they become firm when cooling. I also turn them during the baking time, it seems my oven varies in degrees from back to front. They really just need to set. Try one sometime when you dont have to feed it to anyone and take it out when the directions say and see what happens.

just let it stand out for 2 hours..
