I find myself having crying fits and rage now that I am off Zoloft. I think I want to go back to taking it just to control my emotions. But the reason why I stopped taking it because I could not feel anything I was in a trance I know only my opinion counts on what I want to do or handle my situation But its would be nice to know how Zoloft has affected others negatively or positively.

Although it may smooth out your moods in a way that makes things feel more flat, an antidepressant that is helpful for you should not leave you feeling like a zombie. It might be worth trying a different medication, since it did help treat the symptoms, it sounds like you are on the right track with an antidepressant.
People are very individual in how they respond to meds. I've been on 19 different psych meds altogether and none of them ever made me feel like I was in a trance. I've heard other people complain of that same side effect though.

I was on Zoloft for a while and it helped me quite a bit with depression. I went off of it because of sexual side effects.

Well I knew two women, one young and the other quite old, the common side effect was it made them both horny. Too often they prescribe drugs for the effects not the cause of your problems because it's the easy solution, and they profit by prescribing drugs. Some people really do need them, but it's not always the best answer. And then when off their medication they really came down and the fluctuation back and forth seemed to bother them more than anything. Find out what bothers you, what makes you happy or sad naturally, and try and rearrange your life accordingly. Sometimes the best thing to do about troubles is say "to hell with it" and just move on to other things. hope this helps.

What was your dose? It sounds like you may have been on too high a dose of Zoloft. I have been on it a while and am still gradually increasing the dose to find the right level. I think that doses that are too high have the effect you described. I am pleased with the effect of the drug - it has decreased my anxiety significantly and is working a bit on the depression as well.

Every medication affects everybody differently. I have been on Zoloft for years and it turned my life around. I havent had any negative side affects from it. I started out taking Elavil. It worked, but after about a year, it stopped working so well. I got switched to Paxil and I had horrible side affects from it. I have talked to others who benifited from Paxil. You just have to find the right meds that work for you.

You need to work with you physician about these questions. Most people with Bipolar disorder need lifelong medication therapy. On the other hand if you are taking it for panic, anxiety or therapy a combination of med therapy, art/music therapy and psychotherapy (counseling) will help you gain control over your life and strive towards managing your issues without the meds. However, self dosing, skipping or taking extra pills or stopping without a dr permission are recipes for failure and severe medical and mental consequences.

I have been on Zoloft for awhile. Start taking it again or try another anti-depressant.

Ask your doctor for a different brand of the same product, or a lower dosage.
