My Doctor has put me on Imitrex for migranes. I have never been on anything like that before. I would just like to know about the side effects and if it makes you really drowsy because I am at home with 2 kids all day and their dad works all day.

The most common side effects of IMITREX are tingling and warm/cold sensations (Tablets), a bad/unusual taste (Nasal Spray), and injection-site reactions, atypical sensations (such as feelings of tingling, warm/hot sensations), dizziness, and flushing (Injection). Most side effects last for only a short time.

I take the injections of Imitrex and it makes me real dizzy & drowsy just right after I take the shot. The pill form just makes me sleepier in the evening towards bedtime. But everyone reacts differently to different medications. You just have to try it to decide if you can take it. If not, the doctor may have to try a new approach to your treatment. Good luck, I know migraines are extremely miserable!! I've had them most of my life!

If you type 'side effects of Imitrex' into a search engine you will find out the whole range of side effects and risks and it will be a lot quicker than asking the question on here. I hope you find a successful treatment quickly.Good luck.

I've taken both imitrex pills and the imitrex shots.
on and off for 15 plus years. I have severe
migraines causing me to throw up and pass out.
Other things I've been prescribed have caused me
to be sick more or out of it. Imitrex shots work
faster than the pills, and I haven't ever felt drowsy
with either.

I don't know about this drug. If it doesn't suit you because of the side effects, look into herbal remedies, fever few is widely used in Europe, prescribed by doctors who don't fall into our FDA (if you are in the USA) hype and often rely on tried and true folk cures.
