Don't use gel, there are sprays made to help protect your hair. Spray one section at a time and straighten it, and then do it all over again until you've done your whole head.
I tend to pin up the hair I've straighten and the hair I have left to do and leave a couple strands out at the same time. It makes it a little bit easier.

I use the chi and I have extremely curly puffy hair...to getth best results its all about the right products.
If you have fine hair I think you should just use the BioSIlk product made by Farroukh, that is designed to work w/ the Chi.

They sell it at most drug stores and beauty salons. It's in a clear bottle
However, it is quite pricey (approx 30 bucks for the big bottle) just for a hair product so if you want to use a cheaper version that works just as well I suggest Proclaims- Hair gloss (in the spray bottle). You can buy the latter from Sally Beauty Supply and its cheap. Don't use too much though or your hair will look greasy.
If you have course hair then I suggest using some pressing oil (I recommend Dundees -spelling?!) and using that w/ a little of either product I mentioned above.
Good Luck!

Your hair is comparable on your dermis in that it reacts to the failings you consume, the components, the way you're looking after it, etc. If the components is dry, you've subjects with getting breakage and split ends. additionally, in case you employ a miles less high priced shampoo/conditioner, you may nicely be particularly unfavourable your hair greater advantageous than helping it. i don't understand your hair care habitual, yet i'm able to make it easier to recognize the thank you to make it greater advantageous. before everything, try shampooing your hair the different day, yet conditioning it daily. concentration on the ends of your hair while interior the bathe and don't use any variety of warmth. this could moisturize your ends to avert breaking. Use a shampoo/conditioner it somewhat is made for moisturizing and is on the better end of the shelf, not the cheapy stuff. you additionally can purchase coconut oil to put in the ends of your hair. i in my opinion use Organix Coconut Milk (approximately $5 or $6 at maximum shops). After your hair is towel dried, rub a TINY quantity between your arms and soft onto the ends of your hair. do not use too lots, or your hair will seem greasy. this additionally will help avert breakage and splitting. wish this helps! solid success!

Paul Mitchel has a good leave in conditioning spray that protects against thermal damage. They are just so expensive. Get a good thermal protecting leave in conditioner. Use 1/2 inch to 1 inch sections and never hold the flat iron in one place too long. I flat iron the hair from front to back in a slightly foreword direction. Ask your hairdresser to show you or watch a hairdresser use the flat iron. When I walk by a salon and see something interesting i stop in and ask them to show me too. If they get pissed off that is their problem.
