I have recently moved to paignton & I am looking for places of interest to visit in south devon. My friend is visiting for a couple of days next week. She has never been to devon before so I would like to show her what a beautiful place it is. Any ideas of good days out in devon?

Canonteign Falls just outside Newton Abbot is really lovely. Its £4.00 to get in but well worth it. The Barbican at Plymouth is lovely too. Shaldon is nice for a stroll along the beach also

It depends on what you want to do.

If you want to do some Christmas shopping in quaint town visit Tavistock, and park in the long stay near the wear. There is a nice walk by the river, under the arch near the police station and through the indoor market. You can get some quality unique gifts there.

If you want sight seeing I would recommend going in the summer. Burgh Island is a must as well as Dartmoor. Hay Tor is worth the walk and you can park right at the bottom. Its also worth visiting Burrator reservoir for a tranquil place with a large Victorian dam. Not to mention Drakes leat (if you can find it). Plymouth is worth a visit, if only for the Hoe, which offers excellent views out to sea. The barbican is good to visit, and if you like fish then got to the aquarium, the best in the UK IMHO!

Of course you could go to the Zoo, its right on your doorstep!

Hope this helps.

My Gran lives in Sidmouth. It's a lovely little seafront town, well worth a walk along the promenade. Might be a bit nippy this time of year tho!
