I think the cowlicks would, at worst, look swirly. Then you would have to keep it short. Try texturizing or a razor cut on top. (longer spiky, wispy ends) You could always buzz cut it if it doesn't work. Use a strong paste wax and work with the cowlicks, don't try to fight them. Kinda spike it foreword.
