I think Miss Tchickacheli is Italian and Miss Romano might be Italian, Spanish, Romanian or Hungarian.

Miss Romano may be from Italian extract. The other one sounds Italian but there are too many odd consonant combinations!

I know in France at a certain stage the Church made everyone take a surname. Most people did not want a surname so the church officials gave them one. Sometimes they gave people funny names like: Notebook (Cahier) , Dubois (of wood), By the bridge, Oak tree
