If you really don't know and since you obviously have internet access, try "googling" the subject. You have missed out on a great deal in life if you don't know what a dog is.

Basically a type of wolf - at some point, wolves that were bred selectively (to do certain jobs) over many generations lost (some or all of) the size, looks, and instincts of a wolf and were called dogs. DNA based studies indicate the first dogs were in Asia and that dogs and wolves are the same species. The reclassification is very new and not all agree with it; It's certainly not what I was taught in school.

A dog can be classified as an mammal, pet and wild species.
e.g. (1)A normal type of dog bought from a kennel is a pet.
(2)By being wild aiming to the wolf kinda living.
(3)By being a mammal its just to say that it can reproduce a thing that will not hatch from and egg.
