Even within marriage, it seems that sex is only accepted with reservations and only as a neccesity for procreation.

Sex within marriage does NOT make you spiritually impure! Sex BEFORE marriage does. And it most certainly is not merely a means for procreation. It is a means to give and receive pleasure to and from your spouse. So says the Bible.

That kind f thinking went out with the Victorian age. The bible dose not forbid sex for enjoyment, but in the New Testament you will find a passage that the man's body does not belong to him, but the wife and the wife's body does not belong to her but the husband and not to deny each other. I will not do your homework for you, but the church Paul was writing to had a problem with husbands and wives thinking sex was for procreation only and denied each other.

Also read the Song of Solomon also know as the Song of Songs. The bible is very graphic in some areas. Just read it and forget what you are told in church.

Having said all that sex in my marriage is sacred. I am Wiccan and sex is sacred to us. My wife is still a faithful Christian and has no problem with sex for pleasure, especially since she never had kids and does not want kids sex is for enjoyment, not pro creation.

No. This is not Christian teaching. This is a false idea of spirituality, that arose from some ancient Greek anti-hedonian teachings (especially the Stoics and Ascetics). They believed that goodness could "only" be found in the spirit realm, and anything in the physical plane was "bad" or a "toleratable evil" at best. How this became identified as "Christian" I don't know. God created humans as male and female, and commanded us to love one another. The greatest expression of love between a man and his wife, is found in the marriage bed.

Read The Song of Solomon and you'll see he was all about sex! It's meant to be a perk in marriage-not only a necessity to have children. God made sex so enjoyable for a reason-to enjoy each other. The reason Solomon was so infatuated with his wife wasn't that he was thinking babies-he was thinking of what we wanted to do to her. This is all perfectibility acceptable as long as both parties agree and it's in the confides of marriage-it's all good!

Sex is a major difficulty in marriages. One is in the mood, the other isn't.
Then one gets mad, and makes the other feel guilty. Couples withhold sex
from each other to maniupulate.
People also have different sexual appetites. One wants it a lot, the other is
satisfied with less. That can cause a real problem.
Nobody gets off easy in this world, believe me!

Not so. I'm not sure what religion you are talking about. But within marriage everything is permitted bewteen consenting partners, and 1 Corithians 7 teaches not to deprive one another (sexually) for too long a time. Sex is intended for enjoyment, for enjoying one another's intimacy, for expressing love, and for procreation. All of those, in any order you want to put them in.

Theoretically, it is a gift from God to the husband and the wife. Only outside of marriage is it 'spiritually impure'.

Sex has been so tainted by the Christian (especially Catholic) church. It's a natural function. In fact, to have sex may be the sole reason you exist. Humans are animals, and animal instinct dictates self-preservation at all costs. One of the methods of self-preservation is procreation, in order to continue the species, and sex is how this is done. There is absolutely no reason for sex to feel good except to encourage people to do it, thereby ensuring the survival of the species. There is also no reason to not take advantage of this, whether for procreational or recreational purposes. Sex between two consenting adults is a natural human function, regardless of whether or not it results in conception. Biology makes it feel good, so why not take advantage of a natural gift? Sex in no way is spiritually impure - that's just Christian rhetoric, not universal fact.

No way, sex within marriage is a gift from God to be enjoyed to the full.

I don't think so. Let's name it "making love". To make love with your wife/husband is the deepest way to give love. So it is not a sin and it doesn't makes you "spiritually impure". There is only one thing. You really have to make love and not sex.
