Not sure about programming a remote for a Martix, but I had to program one for my old 4Runner and it involved a series of steps where you pushed the doorlock button, turned the ignition key and did some other stuff in rapid succession. Took forever. There is a website though, www.keylessride.com, that not only sells factory replacement remotes, but also the instructions to program them. You might try digging around there and see what you can find.
Of course, you can always take it your dealer or a locksmith. Even if they won't do it for free, I'm sure the cost is minimal. Good luck.

if it has the factory installed system there is probably a black box under your drivers seat. you push in the green button in the black box and turn your key to the acc position wuickly and turn off. this should reprogram your remote if you dont have any black box under your seat i am not sure
