well, have a day with your friends..and if he says "why didn't you call??" you say there wasn't a phone around... then when he brings up the "payphone" ask him with a blank stare.."what's a payphone??" if he asks "why did you call from there house" tell him, they all have cellphones and they weren't about ready to let you use up their minutes".... see then how fast you get one for yourself.

Since you're too young to get a real job, ask him if there are chores around the house you could do to pay for the phone and it's services. Parents like when you take responsibility like that. Also, you could always tell him that you'll settle for one of those prepaid cells. That way if you start slacking on chores, he can just stop buying minutes for you and he won't be stuck in a contract. (the more planned out you make things sound, the better chances he may give in) Although, 13 is still alittle young for a cell phone. But I guess most kids have them at that age now.

Pre paid is a good idea. You can even get one that takes pictures. I have a 14 and 18 year old that have ran there phone bills as high as 600.00 so pre paid is the safe way to go. As for reason to just beable to keep in touch with dear ole dad should be enough, not just friends and for emergency. Good Luck christmas is just around the corner this would be a great gift idea.

Emergencies ARE a good reason. Say you're stuck somewhere and need to be picked up, for instance, or you are out with your friends and the only person driving is drunk. Tell him there are cell phones for kids that let him choose who you can call and when.

I had this problem to. You will get one soon, but he feels that you are too immature to handle one. Unless he changes his mind a lot you are not going to win. You just gave out the best reason. That's what cell phones are for.

A prepaid could be enough for you, but to be honest I don't see the need for a 13 year old to have a mobile phone. But that's just me... :P
Anyway, accept what he offered you, it's better then nothing.

For your personal safety so when you are out he can reach you and if you need him you can get him. in this day and age a phone is a good safety device as you never know what's going to happen. tell him this and that you will use it responsibly.

First off, why is this posted in the single and dating section?

Next, if you can't think of a good reason, then perhaps you don't need one.
