cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger. You can also try adding apples or pineapples they give yams a nice kick. By the way if you add white sugar and brown sugar you can eliminate the corn syrup.

I just use brown sugar. With the brown sugar and corn syrup, I'd be tempted to add a bit of lemon juice, just to cut the sweetness.

Skip the corn syrup.

Yams, brown sugar, pineapple, pecans, butter and mini marshamallows.

I little bit of ground chile to offset the sweetness of everything else. Then top with a pecan crumb topping.
