Ask the boss! He should not be doing that; very unprofessional.

Well, it is a nice passage in and of itself.
Look, I'm wiccan and when trying to uplift I turn to my religion. He may not be fishing for converts buy trying to reassure his staff in the way he knows.
Not all people who follow the book hates gays. How does that sound ANTI GAY...its sounds inspirational.
Let her know that you appreciate the thought, but would appreciate no more bible quotes because you feel like you are being converted. She may simply say not my intention, but got the point.
don't turn it icky and evil just yet.

Perhaps the boss has been going through a difficult time (not being able to pay employees for a while), and, happy that his (her) problem was resolved, just wanted to share a verse that had comforted him (her) through the difficulty.
Did the boss do anything to oblige your friend to read the verse?

nope. if he didn't like gay people, he wouldn't work with so many. and if he didn't like other religions, he wouldn't work with such a diverse group either.
sounds like he was trying to make your girlfriend feel better despite the fact that the salon has been having money problems. in other words, he's hoping that she won't seek employment elsewhere.
i'm sure if she asks around, she'll discover that everyone probably has the verse written on their pay stub.
that said, i hope that your girlfriend is seeking employment elsewhere. if the boss is breaking out the bible, it's almost a sure bet that the business is about to go under.

Maybe the boss considers her a whiner (assuming she's earning less because business is slow) and is hinting at a better way to deal with her frustration. Whatever religion you follow, you must have some way of expressing the sentiment offered in the verse.

It could be his or her way of telling her thank you for sticking by them through their rough times because if it had not been for the lord on my side I dont know where I would be.Dont pu t nothing into that it isnt. I get that alot on my job it is nothing personal no she aint trying to convert you unless you go around trying to convert others. Just look at as it is a nice juster and move on.

The owner may have been a Christian, feels that the business hasn't bee doing well, and is trying to be a little more "witnessing" to his faith.
IMO, if it is the owner who is writing the Scripture references on the cheque or inserting them with the cheque (or if the bookkeeper does so at the owner's instructions", then I'd think he has EVERY RIGHT to do so. You have every right to accept the check or not.

I actually have no idea what to make of this...ESPECIALLY because the owner is gay. Maybe they felt guilty she couldn't get paid....maybe they are trying to preach to you or maybe they see that your girlfriend is having a hard time?? Any way....if it doesn't offend you then I'd take it as a compliment.

Tell your girlfriend to ask her boss why it's on there. That's the easiest way to know for sure why they wrote it.
It sounds to me like the boss was saying that she is glad to be able to make payroll, and it's not meant in any ill regard to her employees.

Were you able to cash the cheque!!! If yes then what? If the parlour should be profitable the reference might just be an appeal to stay and make money!

The verse that she wrote is referring to the fact that with complete trust in God we can do the impossible. She may be trying to reach you with the gospel. Has your boss ever talked to your girlfriend before about Christianity?
Either way I would definetely get your girlfriend to ask your boss why it's there.
