For the friend with constipation they may have irritable bowel syndrome, try a medicine called Zelnorm. It works really well!

The friend that has diarrhea may have a gallbladder problem, that causes the food to run through your small intestine really quick without being digested - and the small intestine is where calories are absorbed so you lose weight.

Both of them should see a gastroenterologist (GI) doctor and they could diagnose it. They would probably at a minimum order blood work and more tests would follow from there.

Good luck!

Constipation may be due to many factors. Most of it is self-perceived (if they feel it happens all the time). If you want to increase bowel movement, you must consume foods which create soft stools. Increasing fiber is an obvious way. If a change in diet does not increase bowel movement, it may be a sign of other problems. For instance diabetes or something else. In that case, it would be beneficial to see a doctor.

Apparently your second friend is digesting food very rapidly. Not at all beneficial because you aren't absorbing all the nutrients you need. Eating and going to bathroom may correlate, but keep in mind it takes about 24 hours to digest food. Possibly a little faster for your friend, but absolutely NOT as soon as he's done eating.Dehydration, sensitivity to certain foods (perhaps soy?), and lactose intolerance will all lead to diarrhea.

I've heard Activia is a good regulator for digestive problems and would be good in the first case, but I fail to see a need to change the second as long as it's not diarrhea.

One can have frequent bowel movements without having diarrhea. Having to go right after eating does not necessarily mean that the food just eaten is being eliminated. It could just be that eating stimulates him to go. I noted this happening when I nursed my children, and they are in very good health.

Friend with constipation needs a lot of vegetables and fruits and whole grains plus drinking lots of water

Friend with diarrhea sounds like he has a medical problem. Having loose bowels all the time is not normal and it needs to be checked out by a doctor.

Your friend could possible have sensitivities to white flour and sugar products. These can bind up your intestines. A great way to kickstart a healthier lifestyle is to do a cleanse. A mild one such as Wild Rose Detox is excellent. It takes only 12 days and really does work!!! It changed my life. Check out their website at www.wildrose.com and read the testimonials for the detox kit.

Probably suffering from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndome) Can cause constipation and diahorrea. When constipated Diahorrea runs around the constipation so the bowels are never really cleared.
