I find the best way is to look in the yellow pages, find companies who suit your needs then telephone them for a quote. Most use freephone numbers so it doesnt cost anything apart from your time. Internet is good but not personal. I do this every year and saved £80 off my renewal for the same cover whereas online companies like confused.com were quoting silly figures of £300-500 more than my renewal. I state that i've had x amount quoted can they do better and you will always find some who will. If you want to avoid indian call centres don't call N/union

If youre young, best go with frizzell (part of the Unison group), tesco or Virgin insurance, they were the cheapest for me, or try www.confused.com, they check a load of companies.
