I think people do go overbosrd when every thing they do revolves around church, or when they can't have a real life because of all the things in your religion that you can or cant do. So yes, some people go to far with their religions.

The only ones that I don't think have "gone too far" are Hindu, Buddhists, and Wiccans. None of them have ever condemned me for what I (or anyone else) believe or tried to convert me, or killed in the name of their God. I do not like being preached at. acgsk forgot one...the treatment of Native Americans from the time the white man showed up. If they did not accept Jesus they were either killed or enslaved. That is MY history. As for why? Well, seems like most have forgotten the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have done to you! I really like the Wiccan Rede simply put "do as you will but harm none". If somebody has a problem with either of those little statements, they really do have a problem and I feel sorry for their little closed minds.

I think that they are going to far as trying to get everyone else in their religion because they do not want to be the only ones being miserable in their religion and do not want to be the only hypocrites

Yes. For example, Christians like to kill those who don't believe what they believe.

With the fall of the Roman Empire, the librarian of Alexandria was pulled off her carriage and skinned alive. Literacy dropped. Even the Pope had to have the Bible read to him. In the first crusade, Christians killed tens of thousands of people they called "infidels". The Children's Crusade (1212) caused the deaths of nearly 50,000 children. Preachers sentenced to death and executed thousands during the Inquisition (1233-1834) for heresy and witchcraft. There were the Salem witch trials (1692) in America. The 17th Century Thirty Years War (Catholics v. protestants) wiped out tens of millions in Europe. In the Taiping Rebellion in China in the 1850's a Christian cult started a war that resulted in the slaughter of twenty million people. In the Holocaust six million Jews were murdered. Muslims and Christians in Bosnia reached a death toll of over 250,000.

Yes, but there's nothing anyone can do about it since everyone has the freedom to go as far as they want with their beliefs... unless they don't believe in something "acceptable"
